The sock aid is an ingenious device that helps people put their socks on. They can be a little tricky to use initially but once you figure it out, it even becomes fun!

Anyone with pain and/or decreased range of motion (ie. they cannot bend over to put their socks on). For example, arthritis patients can have difficulty bending and the device can allow them to independently put their socks on.
In addition, some people with heart conditions get dizzy when they bend over to put their socks on.
There are a variety of designs. I have even seen people make them out of a plastic milk container and some rope! Basically, it's made out of a flexible material (usually plastic) that is attached to two handles (ex. rope). Your sock slips over the flexible part so the top of the sock is held open.
You do not need to worry about sizes... one size fits all. If you need to put compression stockings on, make sure to test the different designs out as some are better than others. In fact, I would try before you buy as some people prefer one over the other.
You can purchase them at a medical supply store or at pharmacies that sell other assistive and adaptive devices.
