Make it easier to get up from toilet or will it make her weaker?

Hi,

I want my senior lady to be able to get on and off the toilet more easily with a raised commode and cylinder set up.

The other caregiver believes she should continue to struggle and push herself up and down... on her own so that she will not become weaker?

Should we not make things easier for her? And give her other less stressful ways to exercise?
She could do much more exercises in walking and sitting on chairs?

When does one say it is too difficult and she needs help?

She has chronic confusion... and some dementia and cannot make this decision for herself?

Thanks.
