vascular parkinsonism and falls

A family member has recently been diagnosed with vascular parkinsonism. Her steps are very small and stuttered, with poor balance. she fell and broke her wrist.

Now we have to decide if a wheelchair be better for her while she is recovering from this fall,or continue to assist her with walking?

We don't want her to lose the walking as bad as it is, but then we don't want to put her at risk for another fall.
